New egg processing and grading centre (16.11.2009)
On October 9th, this year AS “Balticovo” opened its new egg processing and grading centre.
It consists of nine modern laying hen houses and grading centre with capacity of 180 thousands egg per hour.
The new complex is the largest and modern in North Europe and one of the largest in Europe.
The egg production capacity is 500 million eggs per year.

The most modern technologies and equipment have been implemented in the egg processing and grading centre: “Moba” (Netherlands) high productivity grading machine with unique egg quality scanner and “Tecno” (Italy) minimal fencing system that corresponds to EU Regulations for the year of 2012.
Such equipment guarantees high hygiene and welfare conditions for hens as well it allows producing eggs for retail without human presence which corresponds to the highest level hygiene criteria.
One million 450 000 laying hens in the new nine laying hen houses are provided with claw shortening devices, nests and free movement in 2.4 m long enriched cages.
