LATVIAN FOOD INDUSTRY COMPETENCE CENTRE WILL DEVELOP RESEARCH PROJECTS IN COOPERATION WITH JSC “BALTICOVO”

1. Increasing the market of the products of the Latvian producers, which includes:

• innovative products and technologies, taking into account the latest trends in the circular economy (including eco-technological products, food safety and quality control solutions);

• product packaging solutions;

• food logistics solutions, including technologies that improve the expiry date, shelf life and reduce transportation costs, while maintaining high product quality and shortening the journey from the producer to the consumer;

2. increasing the added value and competitiveness of the production, which includes:

• improving the use of food by-products in higher added value products;

• agriculture and fruit-growing research to improve the efficiency of resources – more suitable species, cultivation technologies;

• new, innovative products with higher added value, making maximum use of the existing markets, technologies, and other production factors.

• The goal of the Latvian Food Industry Competence Centre is to support at least 20 research projects in accordance with the defined research directions, developing new products and technologies in the sector and introducing them into production, thus promoting cooperation between the research and industry sector, as well as increasing the competitiveness of the industry.

• The total amount of ERDF support for the project is EUR 4 708 111. The project is implemented from 8 April 2019 to 31 December 2021.

JSC “Balticovo”, in cooperation with the Latvian Food Industry Competence Centre, will develop the project: “Development and adaptation of a production volume recording solution for poultry flocks and eggs”, the total project costs of which are EUR 204 000 with support in the amount of EUR 128 000.
