On 18 August 2017, SIA “Latvijas Pārtikas kompetences centrs” signed a cooperation agreement with JSC “Balticovo” on the implementation of research project No. 28 “Assessment of the system for monitoring laying hens, forecasting the productivity of egg production and early detection of changes and development of technological basis” from 21 August 2017 to 31 December 2017. The project was implemented in cooperation with SIA “ABC software” and SIA “SQUALIO cloud consulting”.
The laying hens directly determine the company’s productivity and profitability. In addition to feed costs, the costs associated with maintaining the laying hens are the largest cost items in the egg production process. The ability to predict any potential deviations in the total egg production and the parameters that affect it at an early stage, can eliminate the causes of adverse changes before they occur (e.g., by implementing appropriate veterinary measures). The aim of the project is to create the technological basis for the monitoring of the laying hens, egg production productivity forecasting and early detection of anomalies, by determining the most typical influencing indicators, the automation possibilities for their measurement, the recommended pre-treatment methods and technological solutions using the production processes of JSC “Balticovo” and data as a sample. The experimental method and technological solutions developed as a result of the project, which correspond to the technology readiness level TRL5, are intended to be used in further research in order to develop the final solution.
